Chris Martin will stay at Craven Cottage until the summer – with Fulham intending to enforce the terms of his season-long loan from Derby.

The Scotland striker, who had been linked with an early return to Pride Park, will stay in west London until June, according to Get West London. Fulham have it plain that Martin’s parent club will not be allowed to snatch him back in January, despite Steve McClaren’s rather public musing on the matter.

Martin was a bystander as his two clubs drew 2-2 at the weekend but is expected to return for the Boxing Day meeting with Ipswich. The club will consider whether to launch a permanent £9m for Martin, who scored six goals in his last ten appearances, during January
