Fulham forward Sone Aluko has had his fine performances recognised by winning the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for October.

The Nigerian international, who now must be close to a recall to his national side, scored a terrific equaliser as the Whites came from behind to win at Barnsley and then created three goals in Fulham’s five-goal thrashing of high-flying Huddersfield.

Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic told the club’s official website:

I am very happy for Sone getting this award as he has worked hard for the team over the past months, so it is a good reward for him. We have seen an improvement to our results of late, so it is also a reflection on the whole team, and I want that hard work to continue so that many of my players will be eligible for this award in future months.

Aluko himself added:

Personally it’s a great feeling to be recognised with this award. It’s a nice feeling to be publically rewarded for your efforts.  Ultimately I think it’s a team award. I wouldn’t get this award if the team weren’t winning and it’s a credit to my teammates and all the staff who have provided me with a platform to play well on. The results have gone our way recently and because of this I’ve been able to show my best form.

Sky Sports commentator Don Goodman, who formed part of the judging panel, commented:

It’s great to see Sone doing so well under Slavisa Jokanovic at Fulham after he was so unlucky with injuries at Hull. He’s clearly a very talented lad and has been a joy to watch in October, taking the game to the opposition, cutting through opposing defences, laying on chance after chance for teammates and scoring goals to boot!
