Slavisa Jokanovic was delighted with Fulham’s demolition of Huddersfield Town this afternoon.
The Whites completely dominated their high-flying opponents at the Cottage, and a relentless display from the first whistle until the last earned a 5-0 win.
“I am very happy with how my team played this game today,” Jokanovic stated. “We made many important things and we were very good from the beginning to the end of the game.
“First of all, credit to my players. And for our fans, they deserve an afternoon to enjoy more than they maybe have done in the past. We showed a very good face, and we have to keep going.
“We are a team who have had to provide a reaction many times, but our reaction started today from the first minute until the end. And from another side it’s very important for us to believe in our work, our quality, and be ready for everything that is in front of us.”
Fulham have found consistency hard to come by this season, but Jokanovic is confident the manner of Saturday’s victory can be used as platform going forward.
“We are two-and-a-half months into the competition,” he explained. “After a very good start, we had a complicated situation where we didn’t find a way to win the games, and today we played a very good football game.
“The only thing I’m interested in now is to be ready for the next step, and that’s it. It’s a long competition and many things are going to happen.
“I want, I hope and I believe this victory today will encourage us to believe in ourselves, to believe we are a good team, to play with energy and desire.”
The first opportunity for his side to build on their emphatic victory comes at Griffin Park in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday night.
“Brentford play very, very good football,” Jokanovic admitted. “I’ve said before, we need to believe in ourselves, this situation can encourage us to push hard.
“Nothing is easy; today we played against the third [placed] team in the Championship, and we showed we can compete against them.
“We played better football than they played, and a new chance is in front of us on Friday night. With the energy, with the desire and with the personality we showed today, anything is possible.”
