Chris Martin has left the Scotland training camp to have a medical with Fulham, according to reports on Sky Sports this afternoon.

The Derby striker has been excused from Scotland’s preparations for their World Cup qualifier in Malta on Sunday by national team manager Gordon Strachan to try and complete a move to London by the close of the transfer deadline. Martin, 27, has emerged as Slavisa Jokanovic’s top target as Fulham chase a new forward following the summer departures of Martin’s compatriot Ross McCormack and French striker Moussa Dembele.

According to the Sky report, Martin has left the Scotland team hotel with Fulham representatives to undertake a medical ahead of a proposed move. The former Norwich City striker has featured in all of Derby’s matches this season under new manager Nigel Pearson has scored 53 goals in 117 appearances for the Rams. It had been reported that Fulham had offered around £6m for the striker earlier this week and were in direct competition with Wolves for Martin’s signature.
