Fulham have been drawn against Premier League newcomers Middlesbrough in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The Whites repelled a late fightback from Leyton Orient to book their place in the draw last night – with Cauley Woodrow’s brace helping Slavisa Jokanovic’s side past the League Two outfit at Brisbane Road. Their reward for that 3-2 victory is a home tie against Aitor Karanka’s men, which will take place during the week commencing Monday August 22.
Middlesbrough, who kick off their Premier League campaign against Stoke City at the Riverside on Saturday, earned automatic promotion from the Championship last season, finishing second on 89 points and narrowly pipping Brighton and Hove Albion for the final automatic spot. The Whites earned a goalless draw at the Riverside under Kit Symons last season, but were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Boro at Craven Cottage in the return fixture.
