Swedish winger Alex Kacaniklic arrived at Craven Cottage in August 2010 as part of the deal that took Paul Konchesky to Liverpool. The fleet-footed wide man became a regular in Fulham’s academy sides before being named as an unused substitute when the Whites drew with Sunderland in November 2011. Having been recalled from a successful loan spell at Watford, Kacaniklic made his debut in a 2-1 win over Norwich in March 2012 – hitting the bar having come off the bench.

He made his first start for Fulham at Bolton the following week and quickly became a regular in Martin Jol’s first team squad. Kacaniklic scored his first goal in 5-0 thrashing of Norwich on the opening day of the 2012-2013 season before setting up both of Dimitar Berbatov’s first and second Fulham goals in a win over West Brom and starring in a comeback that saw the Whites claim an impressive point at Arsenal. Having been loaned out to Burnley, he finished the season strongly – scoring in a 3-0 final day success at Swansea.

Kacaniklic was badly affected by injury the following year and also struggled to feature in the Championship, being loaned to Copenhagen by Felix Magath. He was reintegrated in the first-team set up by Kit Symons but faded once Slavisa Jokanovic was appointed as the Welshman’s permanent successor and was released in June 2016.
