On-loan Fulham defender Stephen Arthurworrey has returned to parent club Fulham from Yeovil Town to undergo an operation on a knee injury, according to Glovers boss Paul Sturrock.

The 21-year-old suffered a recurrence of the injury in the 1-0 defeat by Mansfield last Tuesday in the last of his 17 appearances for the League Two side.

Arthurworrey, who also had a loan spell at Tranmere back in 2014, has now cut short his season-long deal at Huish Park and will continue his rehabilitation at Craven Cottage.

“He went back to Fulham and had an x-ray and there is knee damage of some sort,” Sturrock said.

“Fulham have explained that he is going to need an operation and that obviously puts him out of contention here for a while. It’s a massive blow.”
