Fulham have turned down a bid from Sheffield United for central defender Dan Burn.
The former Darlington defender had been heavily linked with a move to the Blades overnight and could be pushed down the pecking order by the potential arrival of new centre backs at Craven Cottage on deadline day. Burn, who has 38 appearances for the Whites since joining Fulham in 2011, started the opening game of the season at Cardiff, but was then only restored to the side for the visit of Huddersfield Town. He played against Sheffield United as Fulham won the Capital One Cup meeting between the sides in midweek and started Saturday’s 3-1 win at Rotherham.
United are apparently still confident that they will be able to conclude a permanent deal for the 23 year-old before the transfer deadline tonight.
