Fulham are hopeful of extending Middlesbrough defender James Husband’s loan for a further month.

The 21-year-old left-back arrived on a month-long deal in August and has impressed in his three appearances for the Whites.

Friday’s West London derby at home to QPR is currently Husband’s last eligible fixture, but Boro boss Aitor Karanka has previously said he is keen for Husband to maintain regular first-team football elsewhere.

Fulham manager Kit Symons said: “I’d like to extend Hubby’s loan. He’s come in and done really well and would like to keep him here longer.

“Luke Garbutt is back in full training now and we’re going to need a strong squad for this challenge in the Championship.

“It’s tough and we are going to lose players through injuries or suspensions and we’re going to need a really strong squad.

“Hubby’s been brilliant and I’m delighted we’ve got him. The longer we can keep him that would be great.”
