Kit Symons reckons Fulham are capable of beating Championship leaders Derby County this weekend despite their disappointing lowly league position.

The Craven Cottage side have gone eight games without a win and only five points clear of the relegation zone going into tomorrow’s game.

Hugo Rodallega is unlikely to be fit to face County and Fulham have looked massively short of confidence in recent fixtures.

Their latest loss came on Tuesday night as they were beaten 3-0 by Wolves and the form book suggests Steve McClaren’s side will be extremely difficult opposition.

However, Symons has claimed he is expecting his team to deliver their first three points since their 3-2 triumph over Nottingham Forest on January 21.

He said: “We’ll go for the win. I expect the win but I also expect a very tough game against a really, really good side. But we’re capable of beating anyone in this league, we’ve shown that. We played Norwich at the Cottage when they were top and we beat them 1-0, so we’re capable of doing that, as we’ve proved before.

“What they’ve got is a really good balance and blend between pace and power and physical attributes, but then they’ve got some really good footballers and bright passing and movement as well. They’ve got players that can score goals, so they’re a good side, they’re a very good side, we’re under no illusions. They’re up the top for a reason.

“We need to get a win from somewhere. We can play fantastic football, which is brilliant, but I don’t really care at the moment quite where the win comes from. If it’s a scrappy horrible game and we nick it 1-0 – like we thought we’d done against Millwall, but obviously Hugo Rodallega’s goal was ruled out for offside – then I don’t care how it comes, we just need to get some points on the board.”

Sean Kavanagh and Tim Hoogland are pushing for a start against the Rams having been on the bench in Wolverhampton. Fernando Amorebieta is continuing to work his way back to fitness and is set play 90 minutes in an U21s fixture tomorrow against Leicester City.
