Alex Kacaniklic made his first appearance in a Fulham shirt since his return to the club as the U21s defeated their Portsmouth counterparts on Tuesday.

The Swedish star has been recalled from his loan spell with FC Copenhagen by boss Kit Symons as he looks to bolster his options.

And the 23-year-old played the first 45 minutes of the Cottagers’ 3-1 triumph in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Motspur Park.

Kacaniklic, who signed a new one-year deal before heading to Denmark, had a hand in Fulham’s second goal when he was fouled as he bore down on goal and Thomas Eisfeld curled the resulting free kick home.

That came after Eisfeld had given Fulham the lead in similar fashion when Moussa Dembele was brought down just outside the box.

Portsmouth pulled a goal back after the restart but Jordan Evans’ clinical finish sealed victory for the Whites, who included nine players who have tasted first team action this season in their starting line-up.
