Fulham midfielder Lasse Vigen Christensen is reportedly a £5million target for Aston Villa – but the talented Danish youngster is going nowhere if his manager can help it.

Kit Symons stopped short of outright promising he can keep the 20-year-old no matter what, but admitted he has discussed transfer window matters with chairman Shahid Khan on the day his side were beaten 2-0 at home by lowly Brighton.

Christensen has a slight hamstring strain that might blow the Whites a bit of good as they keep one of their prize assets under wraps. In fact, the first beneficiaries could be Wolves in the FA Cup on Saturday, with Symons claiming his prospect has little or no chance of playing.

The manager added: “Lasse came off against Bournemouth on Boxing Day with a slight hamstring injury.

“As far as selling our best players – that’s never been an issue, and speaking to the chairman today he will make the right decisions for the club. We’ll look to keep our best players.”
