arnsley boss Danny Wilson has delved Down Under to strengthen his squad for Saturday’s away clash with Rochdale.

Wilson raided Fulham yesterday to sign Australian winger Ryan Williams on an initial one-month loan deal.

And the highly-rated 20-year-old, who can player on either flank and as a striker, goes straight into the Reds’ squad ahead of the much-anticipated visit to Spotland.

“We’ve been looking at Ryan for a while,” Wilson told The Star.

“We need a bit more strength and he’s someone I like a lot. He’s quick and direct, and he can play in a number of positions.

“He’s a supply man and hopefully he can deliver the balls we want into the box. I’ve said to one or two of the players it’s about time they throw down the gauntlet and start performing.

Unfortunately we’ve not had that ruthlessness yet, even though we have a lot of attack-minded players.”

Former Australia Under-20 international Williams, who played 36 games on loan at Oxford United last season, started his career with Western Australian side ECU Joondalup before making a move to Portsmouth as a 16-year-old.

Just under two years later he signed for Fulham but made just two starting appearances at Craven Cottage. However, his performances on loan with the Us earnt Williams a new two-year deal at Fulham, with the club holding an option to extend the contract by a further 12 months.

Wilson has also been linked with a loan move for Fulham striker Marcello Trotto. Trotto, an Italy Under-21 international, has had previous loan spells with Brentford, Watford and Wycombe.
