Fulham striker Matt Smith has apologised to Whites fans following his sending off on his debut on Saturday.

Smith, who arrived on transfer deadline day, was dismissed after just 18 minutes during the 3-0 defeat to Reading for a late challenge on Royals midfielder Hope Akpan.

And the striker took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to apologise for his actions and also wish his team-mates the best of luck against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

As well as the Forest league match, Smith will miss Saturday’s Championship game against Blackburn and the Capital One Cup tie against Doncaster on Tuesday night.
