Fulham are understood to be keeping faith with under-pressure manager Felix Magath despite a dreadful start to the Championship season.

The Whites, relegated from the Premier League last term, have lost all but one of their first six fixtures in the second tier and are marooned at the foot of the table following a dismal defeat at Reading on Saturday. The German coach, whose scattergun team selections and eccentric methods of preparation have come increasingly under question, was believed to be on borrowed time after the 3-0 reverse at the Madjeski Stadium but his position is believed to be safe for the moment – with American owner Shahid Khan deciding now is not the time to sack the German head coach.

More than 2,000 Fulham fans taunted Magath with chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ during the second half of a defeat that seemed inevitable from the moment that new signing Matt Smith was sent off for a horrible lunge at Hope Akpan in the eighteenth minute.
