Felix Magath wants his Fulham young guns to toughen up for their Championship promotion challenge.

The Craven Cottage chief used nine players under the age of 21 in last weekend’s defeat at Ipswich and was unhappy with the rough treatment dished out to his kids by the Tractor Boys.

However, the German admits his starlets need to grow up if they are to bounce back from relegation at the first attempt.

Magath, whose side face Millwall this afternoon, said: “The Championship is a tough league and I like it. They have to get used to it and that’s something they can develop.

“If they get used to this style of play they will be better and improve as a player. Tactics is one thing but the stronger team will get better situations.

“I think Patrick Roberts will go on to play for England. He’s got great ability but he has to get a little bit stronger. He’s one of them that needs a bit more power.”
