Felix Magath reckons the continued presence of Kostas Mitroglou and Bryan Ruiz at Fulham is ‘unsettling’ – and hopes both wantaway players follow Maarten Stekelenburg out of the door as soon as possible.

The Dutch keeper departed for Monaco on loan for the rest of the season today, with Magath indicating it was one down, two to go when it came to getting rid of expensive misfits. The German wants to ship Ruiz and Mitroglou out, too, insisting that the deal to bring the Greek striker to the club – completed before he was appointed – was an expensive mistake.

The manager said: “It’s not his fault. It was totally the wrong decision to take a player like Mitroglou; he was the most expensive signing, and he’s not used to the English way of football. He would like to play in the Champions League, and it was my wish to sign Ross McCormack, who is the right player for us and the right player for the Championship.”

Fulham will attempt to either reclaim part of their massive outlay on Mitroglou, or offer him on loan.
