John Heitinga has signed for German outfit Hertha Berlin following his release by Fulham.

The Dutch defender played 14 games, scoring one goal, after penning a short-term deal with the Cottagers in January, but was unable to stop them being relegated from the Premier League.

Heitinga was one of nine players shown the door at the end of the campaign as Felix Magath reshaped his squad for a Championship promotion push. But the veteran centre back has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Bundesliga side.
