Fulham manager Felix Magath is refusing to get carried away after his side claimed back-to-back Premier League wins.

Victories over relegation rivals Aston Villa and Norwich City have taken the Cottagers into 18th position in the table on 30 points, just two points adrift of safety with four matches remaining.

They now face a testing trip to Tottenham on Saturday and Magath wants his side firmly focused on the game at White Hart Lane as the battle for survival hots up.

The German said: “Nobody can be safe if you realise the results, especially on Wednesday. Sunderland were close to a win at Manchester City so at the end of the season almost everything is possible.

“So we can see that everybody has a chance. So we can go to Tottenham and try to win. It’s not the time for celebrating because our aim is to stay in the league. There are a lot of days between the day we can celebrate and now.

“We have to go to Tottenham and have a very good game so we have to try to win that.”

Fulham owner Shahid Khan was at Craven Cottage to watch the vital 1-0 victory over 17th-placed Norwich last weekend and Magath revealed the American understands the club’s current situation after speaking to him following the game.

He said: “I have spoken with Mr Khan before and we speak every week together. We spoke about the coming game and the situation.

“Not only Mr Khan, we all were very happy about the win on Saturday but he knows that it was a first step, it was not the end.

“We have to take care about the next games and we have to take care about the next opponent and it is Tottenham.”

On-loan Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby will be unable to play against his parent club on Saturday but that has not prevented Magath from consulting his compatriot for advice.

He said: “I always ask the players – John Heitinga against Everton and now Lewis against Tottenham.

“Sure I ask Lewis how he sees the situation, how a certain player is, but it is not the only one kind of information I will get. I try to get all the information I can get.

“You try to get any information you can get. I’ll try also to get any information from Tottenham for Saturday.

“I think Tottenham will also try to get information from us, you can not blame anyone for trying to get information. If you are lucky you can, so it is good.”
