ohn Heitinga hopes to be given a new deal if Fulham manage to beat the drop.
The Dutch defender has made 10 appearances for the Cottagers since his arrival from Everton in January.
However, the 30-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season. But Heitinga wants to stay on at Craven Cottage providing the club retain their Premier League status.
He said: “If we stay up then hopefully it is more than one year. I feel really welcome here. I am part of Fulham now. It is a club full of history and tradition.”
Fulham have won back-to-back games to put them within touching distance of safety heading into Saturday’s clash with Spurs.
And Heitinga hopes they can carry that momentum into their final four matches of the campaign as they bid to escape relegation.
“This is just the beginning,” he added. “There is more confidence in the team now and hopefully we can beat Spurs. There are only four games left and we want to survive.
“We have worked really hard as a team together and hopefully we are moving in the right direction now. If you look at the squad, there is quality there but sometimes quality is not enough.”
