Felix Magath has been known to set significant store by his demanding fitness programme in his past managerial jobs and the Fulham manager demonstrated that he practices what he preaches by cycling through Wandsworth this morning.

The German coach was pictured on a Boris bike by Twitter user Kieran Roles and confirmation of the Fulham manager’s unconventional means of getting around the capital came with several other tweets by surprised pedestrians along Magath’s route. Magath, 60, might well still have been full of enthusiasm following his first win since taking over from Rene Meulensteen at Craven Cottage, with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Newcastle breathing new life in the bottom club’s bid for Premier League survival.

Magath isn’t the only Fulham man who eschews a car to get around London. Midfielder Lewis Holtby, who has quickly become something of a cult hero since signing from Tottenham on loan in January, uploaded a snap of his journey home from the Cottage on the tube after Saturday’s victory.
