Fulham striker Darren Bent is ready to play his part in helping the Cottagers’ Premier League survival bid if he is given the chance.

The on-loan Aston Villa forward has scored six times in 28 appearances so far this term, with his last goal coming in the 2-2 draw at Manchester United in February.

However, in the last two games he has lost his starting place in the side to 19-year-old Cauley Woodrow as new boss Felix Magath shakes things up in his attempts to keep Fulham in the Premier League.

Despite not starting, Bent has not lost his confidence and the 30-year-old has backed himself to score if given the chance on the club’s next visit to Manchester – against title-chasing City on Saturday.

He said “I want to do all I can to help Fulham stay up.

“If I’m involved, I’d always back myself to score.”
