Fulham defender Philippe Senderos is reportedly set to remain at the club after seeing a move to Serie A side Lazio collapse.

Italian source Tutto Mercato Web provided an update on the mystery surrounding the centre-half’s link with a switch to Italy and subsequent failure to complete the move, claiming the Cottagers have now decided to keep him until the summer.

Quotes attributed to the player’s brother Julien read: “His agents are doing a good job, but his return to Italy is very difficult for a very simple reason.

“Fulham do not want to let him go. The situation of the ranking of the London club is not the best, they must be saved and Senderos is an important player for his coach who does not want to lose him.

“He is very unlikely to arrive in Italy right now.”

Former Arsenal man Senderos is out of contract at the end of the season and has been courted by a host of clubs across Europe.
