Aaron Hughes has completed his loan move from Fulham to near neighbours Queens Park Rangers tonight.

The veteran Northern Ireland defender has found first-team football hard to come by at Craven Cottage of late under Rene Meulensteen and has opted to make the short switch to Loftus Road. Hughes, who has made 250 appearances for the Whites and was part of the side that went all the way to the 2010 Europa League final, was one of Rangers boss Harry Redknapp’s top targets in the final hours of the transfer window.

Redknapp was delighted to get his man: “He’s versatile. He can play centre-back or right-back and he’s good enough to walk this division.”
