Pajtim Kasami believes Fulham can use the momentum gained from their Boxing Day win at Norwich to pull away from the relegation dogfight.

The Swiss midfielder, restored to the side by Rene Meulensteen at Carrow Road yesterday, scored the equaliser with a first-half free-kick and feels that the confidence gained from a crucial victory could prove crucial as the Whites head to Hull tomorrow looking for another boost in the battle against the drop.

I think everyone saw that this was a real boost for everyone and there’s real belief for everyone again. It was massive and it is nice to get these three points.

I think we started well in the game and I think it was their first chance that they got that lucky deflection. It happens. What can you do? I think we reacted very well.

Fulham did respond positively to going behind, with Kasami to the fore. The former Palermo midfield produced the perfect cross that Damien Duff failed to convert, but the Whites did equalise thanks to Kasami’s low free-kick that flew through the Norwich wall which had bought a cheeky dummy from Steve Sidwell.

He [Sidwell] just said to me he’s going to go over [the ball] and everyone saw that the wall went off, and I tried to place it. At that moment, you don’t think too much, I tried to place it and it went in. I’m very happy.

Scott’s goal showed the desire that we wanted to win that game. Of course, they had loads of chances but we had plenty of chances ourselves. It went our way, we were very pleased with these three points and we think the club and the fans and everyone deserved the win.

Kasami remains positive about Fulham’s chances of picking up points, despite the side still remaining in the relegation zone at the moment.

Of course, we have the quality and if the quality’s there we don’t have to worry; it’s all about working hard and being together as a team and I think we show that and that’s the way we are going to win games.

Now we have three tough games and the next tough game is on Saturday and we are looking forward to it. We are taking a lot of confidence out of this result and, although this was a massive win for us today, we have to look forward to the next game.

We don’t really think about what’s happening around us, we focus on us, we know what we have to and everyone knows and the good thing is we have the quality and with the quality everyone needs to work hard, that’s the way we get results, pick up points and we have to keep working hard.
