Martin Jol believes Bryan Ruiz will be fit enough to return to action in Fulham’s home game against Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Fulham manager opted not to include Ruiz in his side for last night’s Capital One Cup win over Everton as he wasn’t quite fit enough following his recovery from an ankle injury he picked up in the closing stages of the 1-1 draw with West Brom twelve days ago. Jol is hopeful, however, that the Costa Rican international will be fit for the crucial game against Cardiff as Fulham search for the victory that would propel them out of the relegation zone.

It was a risk to involve him, that’s why I played Kasami. Kieran Richardson was rested and Aaron Hughes wasn’t 100% fit.

Dimitar Berbatov, who made a goalscoring return to the side after missing the derby defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, should start up but the real question will be whether Jol chooses to pair Darren Bent, who grabbed the winner against Everton shortly after coming off the bench, with the Bulgarian up front.
