Fulham are sweating on the fitness of Maarten Stekelenburg after the keeper suffered a setback in his recovery from a shoulder injury.
The summer signing from Roma limped out of the win at Sunderland on the opening day of the season after landing awkwardly.
Stekelenburg missed the home defeat to Arsenal and the midweek win against Burton, but was expected to be back to face Newcastle United at the weekend.
However, boss Martin Jol revealed the Holland international has had a setback following another fall in training.
The Craven Cottage chief said: “He fell on one shoulder and was out and now he fell on the other one.
“He’s in hospital now and will take some pictures and monitor the situation.
“We will try again tomorrow to see if he can join us, but I don’t think he will.
“Hopefully it’s not serious.”
David Stockdale is set to continue between the sticks for Saturday’s clash at St James’ Park.
