Fulham manager Martin Jol has challenged Hugo Rodallega to hit double figures this season.

The Colombian striker was on the scoresheet in Saturday’s pre-season friendly with Deportivo Saprissa as Fulham completed their Costa Rican tour with a 5-3 victory on penalties.

Rodallega managed just three goals in 33 games last season after moving from Wigan and has not hit the 10-goal mark since 2010.

However, Whites boss Jol has thrown down the gauntlet to the 27-year-old to take the heat off Dimitar Berbatov.

He said: “People at Fulham only tend to score three, four or five goals, so I was very happy with Berbatov scoring more than any other striker over the last eight years.

“Hugo is a goalscorer and I feel he should get at least 10 goals, so that is something we have to work on.

“He will say ‘boss I didn’t play all the matches’, so you’ve got to look at it from both sides.”
