Out-of-favour Aston Villa striker Darren Bent could be offered an escape route from Villa Park this summer, after attracting interest from Fulham, according to the Metro.

The former Sunderland striker has been surprisingly benched for much of this season by Villa boss Paul Lambert, who has favoured a starting place for young Belgian forward Christian Benteke.

With Benteke going on to enjoy a fantastic season, Bent has not at any point looked like regaining his first team place, though he remains highly rated by several other Premier League clubs.

The 29-year-old was said to be attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool when he joined Villa from Sunderland for a club record £18million, but things have not worked out for him in recent times.

Bent has struggled when moving for big money before, when he flopped at Tottenham following a £16.5million move. But Fulham are keen to recruit a striker this summer, following recent rumours that they could lose Dimitar Berbatov to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Bent will be keen to get his career back on track, having scored just 2 goals in the Premier League this season.
