Emmanuel Frimpong has won a first call-up to the Ghana squad for this month’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

The Arsenal midfielder, currently on loan at Fulham, represented England at youth level before committing himself to the country of his birth.

And his debut could come on 24 March in Kumasi as Ghana aim to improve on their current second place in Group D of the African qualifying section.

Frimpong has played just twice since moving across London in January on a loan deal until the end of the season.

But Fulham manager Martin Jol is already considering an attempt to make the move permanent.

Jol said earlier this month: “If there is the opportunity to take him, I would probably do it.”
