FC Köln coach Jorg Jakobs has said that his club are ready to try and sell Sascha Riether when the full-back’s loan at Fulham finishes.

Reports in the German press have offered conflicting hints about the 29 year-old’s future – with some club officials quoted as claiming that Riether will return to the second division club in the summer, while others have suggested that selling Riether will offer a timely boost to cash-stapped FC Köln’s transfer kitty.

Jakobs feels that the on-loan full-back will be heading for pastures new come the summer – even if Fulham fail to activate the option in the original loan agreement:

Riether’s made a good name for himself. Even if Fulham wouldn’t want him, another club will come.

Riether has made 29 appearances since moving to Craven Cottage in the summer and has swiftly become a firm favourite with the Fulham fans. German press reports confirmed yesterday that the London club have an option to sign Riether for €1.5m at the end of his season-long loan.
