Stephen Kelly proved another shrewd Bosman signing from Roy Hodgson when he joined Fulham on a free transfer from Birmingham City in July 2009. He showed his versatility, playing in both full back positions through the Whites’ extraordinary Europa League run, including an outstanding display at left back in the must-win final group game in Basel in December 2009. Kelly was a key part of the Republic of Ireland side that reached Euro 2012 and, eventually left Fulham for Reading having fallen down Martin Jol’s pecking order, in January 2013 after making 71 first-team appearances.
