Mark Schwarzer wants Fulham to carry on their momentum from beating Newcastle into this weekend’s west London derby.
Martin Jol’s side make the short trip to Loftus Road hoping to put their recent poor run even further behind them at the expense of their neighbours QPR, who currently prop up the Premier League.
Monday night’s win over the Magpies brought a winless streak of seven games to a halt, and Fulham’s last defeat in this fixture came seven meetings ago, in May 1983.
QPR are without a win in the league all season, and Schwarzer hopes that remains the case after Saturday’s meeting.
“It’s a massive game,” declared the Australian keeper.
“We just need to recover and take the confidence from Monday night’s game into the weekend.
“We should have won by more against Newcastle. We had some very good chances, not half-chances or lucky chances – very, very good ones. Their keeper played very well and on another day we might have won more comfortably.
“But of course we’re pleased to have won. Newcastle were on similar points to us and it was important to get a win. We’d gone seven games without one, we’d been unlucky at times, so it’s nice to be back to winning ways.”
