Fulham have released an official statement following on from the Football Association’s statement this morning backing their Academy head of coaching Steve Wigley after the Serbian authorities charged England under-21 players in the aftermath of the disgusting scenes in Krusavac at the end of the UEFA U21 Championship qualifying play-off last month.

Wigley, only recently appointed as the head of the Motspur Park Academy’s coaching set-up, also assists England under-21 coach Stuart Pearce with his duties and was caught up in a fracas as he tried to take England’s players off the pitch following their 1-0 win in the second leg. Fulham’s brief statement says that Wigley will assisting the FA with their own inquiries into events in Serbia and retains the full backing of the club.
