Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz will be assessed in training this week ahead of Saturday’s trip to Reading.

The Fulham forward suffered a groin injury on international duty with Costa Rica, which ruled him out of the victory against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Boss Martin Jol revealed Ruiz was set to play, only for the problem to flare up again ahead of the game.

And Ruiz now faces a race against time to be ready for the visit to the Madjeski.

“He was close,” said Jol. “He was in the line-up and then he did something and slipped and felt his groin again so couldn’t be involved.

“I don’t know [whether he will be fit for this weekend]. I hope so.”
