Martin Jol is interested in adding further to his midfield options

After the addition of experienced Greek international Karagounis, signed on a free transfer just two weeks ago, Martin Jol is set to sign another out-of-contract midfielder from abroad. Although coy with his answer, Jol was specific enough to rule out two Englishmen Fulham have been heavily linked with recently:

We’re trying to do something in the next couple of days but not with Nigel Reo-Coker or Owen Hargreaves. It will be a central midfielder from abroad and we will have to test him to see if he’s fit and then we will talk to him. I’m confident of having the deal sorted next week.

Karagounis is still awaiting his Fulham debut but following his run-out for the U21s in the week is expected to play a role against Manchester City tomorrow. Jol also signed Mahamadou Diarra in February following his release from Monaco.
