Fulham are closing in on the sensational capture of Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian forward had appeared set to sign for Fiorentina but the Italian club then accused the 31 year-old of failing to arrive in Florence for scheduled talks over personal terms. The Italian press reported that Berbatov was likely to join Juventus instead – which led Fiorentina to launch a bitter attack on the Old Lady – only for a Juventus director to reveal that they had also missed out on Berbatov’s signature.

It seems as though Fulham boss Martin Jol, who managed Berbatov successfully during his time in charge at Tottenham, has convinced the striker to make the move to west London.
