The Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is having a medical at Fulham ahead of a proposed move to the London club.

Martin Jol has convinced the Bulgarian striker, who he managed whilst in charge of Tottenham, to reject approaches from Fiorentina and Juventus in favour of moving to Craven Cottage. Berbatov is now surplus to requirements at Old Trafford having slipped down the Manchester United pecking order following the summer arrival of Robin van Persie, despite finishing the 2010/11 season as the joint top goalscorer in the Premier League.

Jol moved quickly to revive his interest in Berbatov after Fulham sold Mousa Dembele to Tottenham for £15m earlier this week.
