Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak was particularly prolific during his five months at Craven Cottage in 2012. Signed on a short-term deal as a replacement for Bobby Zamora, the gangly forward scored on his debut in a 2-1 win over Stoke City in February 2012. He followed that up with the winner at Queens Park Rangers, where he celebrated with the travelling support at Loftus Road, and scored a perfect hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Wolves. He had scored five goals in his first three Premier League matches, becoming the quickest man to reach such a mark in the division’s history. He came back from an ankle injury to score against Wigan in April and was expected to sign a long-term contract in the summer. Instead, he joined Reading – who were relegated at the end of the following season.
