Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is closing in on a loan move to Fulham, according to Goal.

The west London neighbours locked in discussions over a proposed deal for the Belgian forward, with Fulham moving quickly to try and secure Lukaku’s services after it became clear that he wouldn’t be part of Chelsea’s first-team plans this season. Chelsea view a potential loan move to Craven Cottage as beneficial to the teenager’s development as it will offer regular first-team football.

Lukaku was frustrated by his lack of opportunities after his £18m move from Anderlecht to Stamford Bridge last summer. The young forward started only once in the Premier League and claimed he was treated poorly by Andre Villas-Boas. It is understood that Fulham and Chelsea would share payment of Lukaku’s wages, with Jol adding a third striker to his ranks this summer after the free transfer captures of Mladen Petric and Hugo Rodallega.
