The good news from the Fulham camp yesterday was that Martin Jol will take up his place in the dug out today after overcoming a chest infection.

After two very different displays against both Mersyside teams last week, it will be good to have Jol back again. I don’t think any blame for the Everton loss can be attached to Billy McKinlay but I do think that the reassuring voice of our manager was missed by the players and that certainly didn’t help a dismal performance. Liverpool was a very different matter and a very sound defensive display with moments of super passing plays earned us three more points to bring our total this year to 49 points so far and on course to break our top flight record of 52 points. With just two games to go, I’m hoping for a very comfortable end to the season against Sunderland and Spurs.
