Alex Kacaniklic is aiming to force his way into the Fulham starting XI in their remaining games after making his debut against Norwich.
The 20-year-old Swedish starlet was brought back to Craven Cottage from a loan spell at Championship side Watford by boss Martin Jol last week and was immediately handed a place in the squad for Saturday’s 2-1 home win against the Canaries.
Kacaniklic started the match on the substitutes’ bench but saw plenty of game time when he replaced striker Pavel Pogrebnyak during the first half.
The former Liverpool youngster enjoyed an impressive outing and went close to capping his Cottagers bow with a goal after clipping the crossbar.
And, following the game, Kacaniklic is now targeting further run outs in Jol’s first-team in the club’s remaining seven matches.
“I got the call on Tuesday night and I trained on Thursday with the team. I found out on Friday after the session that I’d be involved against Norwich and so I was very happy. It’s an exciting time for me.
“I felt the game went pretty well for me. When I was told to get ready to come on I didn’t think too much about it, I just wanted to play and I was happy to come on and I really enjoyed it. I just want to try and do my best and work hard and I just want to play.
Obviously I just want to play for Fulham so that’s my target; I want to play as many games for Fulham as I can between now and the end of the season. Bolton is next up and obviously they need a win at the moment so that’s going to be a difficult game but I’m sure if we play to our best we can come away with a positive result.”
