Fulham have recalled winger Alex Kacaniklic from his loan at Watford, sparking rumours that the Swedish youngster could be set to feature in this weekend’s Premier League game against Norwich.

The former Liverpool midfielder hadn’t made a senior appearance prior to arriving at Vicarage Road on loan but has made a real impression on the Watford fans in his short spell at the Championship club. Kacaniklic quickly established himself as a regular in Sean Dyche’s side after coming off the bench to turn a two-goal deficit into a winning position against Burnley in early March.

Martin Jol has exercised his right to recall Kacaniklic within 24 hours under the terms of his youth loan, an option which is available after 28 days of the original transfer. Dyche had been delighted Kacaniklic’s impact at Watford and reserved fulsome praise for the 20 year-old:

I think this loan has gone very well for Alex as an individual and us as a team. He became more and more of an influence for us the more used to Championship football he got.

I kept impressing at the time we got him that he’d not played a competitive match in his career to that point – so I think he’s developed really well. He’s another young talent who we’d monitored from pre-season. We wish him well with his future at Fulham.
