Martin Jol described Fulham’s last-minute defeat at Aston Villa this afternoon as ‘a real kick in the teeth’.

The Dutchman’s side looked good value for a point at Villa Park before Andreas Weimann followed up Gary Gardiner’s drive in the fourth minute of stoppage time, continuing the worrying leaking of late goals this season.

It was a real kick in the teeth and harsh to concede in the final minute. I don’t blame anyone for the goal but I feel in the last minute you have to keep the opposition in front of you. We didn’t do that for the goal.

Villa pressed us high up the pitch in the first half and did well but in the second half we were the better team. We changed the system, created a spare player in midfield for the second half and that was the solution for us.
