Mexican left back Carlos Salcido signed for Fulham from PSV Eindhoven from £3.5m in August 2010 after an impressive World Cup in South Africa. He was signed as the successor to Paul Konchesky and made his debut at Blackburn Rovers in September 2010, setting up Fulham’s goal for Clint Dempsey in a 1-1 draw. Salcido struggled to settle in London and made only 26 appearances for the Whites, before returning to Mexico with Tigres UANL – initially on loan – after his Claygate home was burgled. He left Fulham permanently in March 2012 months before winning gold medal with his country at the London Olympics.
