Martin Jol heaped praise on match-winner Pavel Pogrebnyak after the Russian’s early goal proved enough to beat QPR at Loftus Road this afternoon.

The Fulham manager hailed the whole-hearted performance of his on-loan striker, who has now scored twice in two games since arriving from Stuttgart. Jol also hinted that he would be very tempted to turn the loan move into a permanent one come the end of the season.

We saw from the first day that he came here that he has quality on the ball. He wants to work, which is exactly the information I had from the two Dutch coaches who worked with him.

Hopefully he will keep on scoring goals and we will see what happens over the next couple of months. They [Stuttgart] have four or five strikers, but I told him that if he came here he will play.

Jol also lauded the display of Belgian international Moussa Dembele, whose clever back-heel made the goal for Pogrebnyak.

Moussa Dembele is so good on the ball and he’s getting better and better. In midfield you can see he’s top class and he likes it there too.

I thought they [QPR] wanted to take the game to us and both teams were really up for it today. When we played them at home we beat them six nil and I thought Andy [Johnson] could give them a problem again today and we played with five offensive players.

They changed their style after the sending off and if we’d of scored a second one the game would have been over. There were 3,000 of our fans here today which was fantastic.
