Martin Jol laughed off a tetchy post-match handshake between him and Mark Hughes after Fulham’s 1-0 win at Loftus Road this afternoon.

The two managers became embroiled in an altercation after the final whistle, with Hughes claiming he felt Jol was ‘patronising’. The handshake sagas seemed a little petty – and also to happen a bit too often – when Hughes was managing Fulham. For his part, Jol was pretty good humoured about it afterwards:

We shook hands but maybe I made it a bit too personal, you know? I tried to grab his shoulder and he didn’t like that because he is a tough guy. He is a winner, he wants to win. Maybe he doesn’t like me, I don’t know.
