Martin Jol slammed Adel Taarabt for trying to get Moussa Dembele sent off during the west London derby yesterday.

The Fulham manager was disappointed by the Moroccan midfielder’s waving of an imaginary red card at referee Phil Dowd after Dembele, who had already been booked, was penalised for bringing down Joey Barton. Jol, whose side won 1-0 thanks to Pavel Pogrebnyak’s early goal, felt Taarabt was trying to level things up after Samba Diakite was sent off in the first half for two bookable offences.

I think that (Taarabt miming the issuing of another card) was wrong because you can see that the referee thought it wasn’t enough to book him again and have him sent off. The referee saw it, it wasn’t enough for him, so leave it at that. It’s a South American thing, you know. I don’t like it.
