Fulham add another impressive scalp to their name as the U18s defeated favourites Manchester City in tonight’s FA Youth Cup tie to secure a quarter-final berth. City dominated the first half an hour and perhaps should feel frustrated that they couldn’t take more than a goal advantage into the break but it was Cauley Woodrow, a big money summer signing from Luton, who stole the show as Fulham demonstrated how to convert chances into goals with an impressive second half display and just what a good side this youth team is.

It looked as if Fulham were going to be in for a long night as after City’s goal on 21 minutes and numerous last gasp saves and clearances seemed ominous for the young whites, but football is a 90 minute game and following a second half showing in which the Whites controlled in a manner reflective of their true ability Woodrow helped cause panic among the City defence as an own goal equalised for the visitors. Woodrow would then go on to score the winner when regular first-team player Kerim Frei set up the Fulham forward for an emphatic finish late on to take the win.

Fulham now host Burnley in the FA Youth Cup Quarter-Final.
