Sky Sports are reporting that Blackburn have made a formal bid for Fulham striker Andy Johnson.

The 30 year-old is expected to leave Craven Cottage this month as his contract expires in the summer and Johnson has yet to agree a contract extension with Fulham. Blackburn manager Steve Kean has been a long-time admirer of the former Crystal Palace and Everton striker and had been expected to make him his first January signing, but Rovers’ difficult financial position has meant they have had to reassess their transfer targets.

QPR had an offer – believed to be around £1.5m – for Johnson rejected last week. Fulham manager Martin Jol told a press conference last week that he was still ‘hopeful’ that Johnson, who has scored 11 goals this season for the club, would choose to stay at the club.
